What is Organic Chlorella? Does Chlorella Do For Your Body?

Organic Chlorella is a type of freshwater algae, commonly known as seaweed to us. It’s rich in vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber and is often used due to its nutritional & medicinal values. Chlorella contains omega-3 fatty acids, is rich in antioxidants & minerals, and is beneficial to the body in many ways.

For instance, it promotes healthy vision, detoxifies heavy metals & radiation effects thanks to the abundance of chlorophyll, has anti-inflammatory & anti-cancer properties, contributes to better skin health, and helps regulate cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure levels.

Is Organic Chlorella a Prebiotic?

Yes, Organic chlorella is a prebiotic that helps increase the probiotic bacteria in your gut. According to studies, the presence of chlorella in the body reduced the harmful bacteria in the body and multiplied probiotic bacteria in the body. Chlorella is so incredibly fibrous that it’s hard for our saliva, gut, and intestines to break it down and must therefore be consumed as a ‘broken cell wall,’ i.e., it must be processed to remove the rigid walls of its cells and then eaten.

Can you Take Organic Chlorella Every Day?

Adults can usually safely consume 2-6g of chlorella a day to get its benefits. For instance, you can consume 2 capsules of Organic Chlorella supplements from Diabetes Care Solution a day. For best results, take it about half an hour before your meal or as prescribed by your physician.

Which is Better: Chlorella or Spirulina?

  • Organic Chlorella has higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids, provitamin A, Riboflavin, Magnesium, Iron, zinc
  • Both chlorella & spirulina contain high amounts of protein. However, spirulina contains 10% higher protein content than chlorella.
  • Chlorella contains higher amounts of chlorophyll which has immunity-boosting, detoxifying, and anti-cancer properties.
  • Chlorella has a lower content of copper than spirulina, although it’s rare to have a copper deficiency.
  • In comparison, chlorella has higher calories than spirulina.

Not just that, the high percentage of nucleic acids (RNA and DNA) in organic chlorella increases cellular regeneration & production. This has a positive impact on your skin, hair, and overall health. This super alga is also believed to help your skin fight the harmful effects of the sun since it contains astaxanthin, a keto-carotenoid.

When consumed together, spirulina & chlorella complement each other and bring many benefits to your body- boosting immunity, enhancing skin & hair growth, detoxifying, and improving your energy levels. However, you should note that Organic chlorella doesn’t work well with blood-thinning drugs and anticoagulants like warfarin.

If you have an existing medical condition, it is best to consult your doctor before starting any supplements.

If you have any blood disorder and are taking blood thinners & anticoagulants, it’s best to consult with a doctor before taking chlorella since it’s known to interfere with the medicines.
